Add topicCan you please delete those spambot created pages I marked with the {{delete}}, and protect the page Wiktionary:Protected titles with the cascading protection switched on - then the spambot cannot create those pages anymore. Ahoerstemeier 21:18, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Main page semi-protection & KᎠᎦᎵ
[ᎦᏁᏟᏴᏓ ᎰᏪᎸᎦ]Hi Cherokeekid, could you please change ᎤᎵᎮᎵᏍᏗ to semi-protection (only registered users can edit)?: see this
Also, could you change the chimaeric word KᎠᎦᎵ here into the correct form ᎧᎦᎵ. The one who created that page just added a Latin K and then the Cherokee letters for a-ga-li instead using ᎧᎦᎵ (ka-ga-li). Thanks. Regards. --79.78.12.92 16:19, 7 ᎠᏄᏱ 2009 (UTC)
- At least the words for January (correct form: ᏚᏃᎸᏔᏂ) and June (correct form: ᏕᎭᎷᏱ) are also wrong because they start as well with a Latin capital letter. Regards. --79.72.200.129 12:28, 8 ᎠᏄᏱ 2009 (UTC)
- I've changed the main-page protection-level. When it comes to the translation, chr.wikt uses the standard mediawiki-translation (the page you are refering to is deleted), so it should be changed on translatewiki.net. Laaknor 07:04, 30 DᎡᎭᎷᏱ 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, for you help, Laaknor. Anyway, it is important to remark that translatewiki.net is not a Wikimedia project and it has publicity. It is quite puzzling (or maybe interesting?) that a place like Wikimedia got rid of pages like this --even if they maybe were not very efficient, they, at least, worked-- in order to become dependant of a non-Wikimedia site in such a basic topic as language localisation. Thanks anyway, Laaknor. --83.42.147.250 09:44, 30 DᎡᎭᎷᏱ 2009 (UTC)
- It is indeed sad that translatewiki is not a wmf-project. But the deletion of these pages is ok, because they are now included in the software, thus no longer required and if there is an error the correction will be updated on every wiki (as You can see on MediaWiki:January the translation is still there). That could be compared like using a template which is included in many pages, if the template is changed all pages will show the change, if it would be written directly in the page every single page would need update. Besides chr can also be chosen as language on non-chr-projects because of this globalization. Best regards, --Spacebirdy 10:14, 30 DᎡᎭᎷᏱ 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I perfectly know all that. When I said "got rid of" I meant "disable and replace it with translatewiki info" but that doesn't change my mind. Seemingly, for some reason(s) I do not know, Wikimedia, brimming with capable brains, eager hands and generous funds, is unable to create its own translatewiki and it heavily depends on a non-Wikimedia project which has publicity. --81.38.38.128 12:45, 30 DᎡᎭᎷᏱ 2009 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[ᎦᏁᏟᏴᏓ ᎰᏪᎸᎦ]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Cherokeekid. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Cherokeekid~chrwiktionary that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
